Fort Atkinson Club plans art exhibition, ‘kindness’ discussion led by UW-Whitewater Center for Students with Disabilities director  

Debbie Reuter, the director of the Center for Students with Disabilities at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is slated to lead discourse during a “Cultivating Kindness” art exhibition reception and discussion, according to Fort Atkinson Club program organizers.

The event will be held at the club’s community center, 211 S. Water St. E., Fort Atkinson, Friday, May 17, with the reception beginning at 5 p.m., and the discussion beginning at 6 p.m.

According to information released by program organizers, the event will provide “an evening of art, inspiration and meaningful dialogue.”

The exhibition will feature the works of local artists as they explore such themes as kindness and compassion, using a plethora of mediums, including digital graphics, painting, photography and sculpture, among others, the release stated.

Select pieces from the exhibition will be available for purchase, the release noted.

The discussion will be held in the community center’s theater.

Reuter brings 24 years of experience in counseling and higher education, the release read.

With its focus on kindness, Reuter’s presentation “will delve into strategies for nurturing kindness and inclusivity in our communities, drawing upon her expertise in disability services, diversity, and inclusion facilitation,” the release continued.

Event-goers will find light refreshments offered and are encouraged to “engage in further conversation with the speaker,” the release stated.
