WisDOT sets U.S. 14 rehabilitation project public meeting

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has announced that it will be holding a public involvement meeting regarding its upcoming plans to rehabilitate a portion of U.S. Highway 14.

The project, set to begin in 2028, involves a 7.7-mile stretch of roadway on U.S. Highway 14 between County Trunk K in Walworth County and the Illinois state line, according to a news release.

According to information found on the project page on the DOT’s website, the slated rehabilitation project includes such improvements as 4.5-inch mill and overlay between County Trunk K and the northern limits of the village of Walworth; grading and drainage improvements, in the form of “ditching,” which is anticipated to be placed in multiple locations; urban pavement replacement with new curb and gutters within the village of Walworth, and rural pavement replacement with new ditching between the southern limits of the village of Walworth and the Illinois state line.

Traffic staging options while the project is underway are still under evaluation, according to the DOT website.

The public involvement meeting will be held at the Walworth Village Hall, 227, North Main St., Walworth, Wednesday, March 20, between 5 and 7 p.m.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and provide input. The meeting will be held in an open-house format, with maps and other materials on display. WisDOT representatives also will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis, the release noted.

For additional information about the proposed improvements, contact WisDOT Project Manager Steve Hoff by phone: 262-548-6718 or email: steve.hoff@dot.wi.gov or visit the project’s website.

The meeting facility is wheelchair accessible, the release noted.  Those who would like an interpreter present at the meeting may contact Hoff three business days prior to the meeting. Deaf or hard of hearing persons can use the Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay System (dial 711) to contact the project representative, according to the release.

The map above, as provided on the WisDOT website, shows the project area slated to commence along U.S. Highway 14 in 2028. A public involvement meeting regarding the project will be held Wednesday, March 20, in the village of Walworth.
