Student art is on display at the Whitewater Cultural Art Center, according to a recent news release.
The show is a collaboration between the school district and the Whitewater Arts Alliance, which operates the Cultural Art Center gallery.
The annual show will remain on exhibit through Sunday, April 28. The gallery, 402 West Main St., Whitewater, is open Thursdays through Sundays, noon to 4 p.m.
According to the release, “(the) exhibition marks a celebration of creativity and community spirit, featuring artwork from students across the district.”
The release notes that the annual show has traditionally been well attended.
Additionally, on Saturday, April 20, the alliance will host a reception in the Cultural Arts Center gallery, planned from 2 to 4 p.m.
According to the release: “(The) reception offers an opportunity for art enthusiasts, families, and the broader community to come together, view the remarkable artwork on display, and meet some of the talented artists.”
The show and reception are free to attend and open to the public. During the reception, light refreshments will be provided.
“Families are especially encouraged to attend, as the exhibition provides an enriching experience for children and adults alike,” the release stated.
“We are thrilled to once again collaborate with the Whitewater Unified School District to showcase the artistic achievements of our local students. This exhibition not only celebrates the talent and creativity within our community, but also underscores the importance of art education in nurturing the next generation of artists,” Kim Adams, gallery director of the Whitewater Arts Alliance was quoted as saying in the release.
Justin Mane, art teacher at the district’s Washington Elementary School, was quoted as saying in the release: “the annual districtwide art show will be a great day celebrating the creativity of WUSD art students. The show includes kindergarteners up to 12th graders and will consist of a variety of art pieces ranging from drawings, paintings, clay, collages, and mixed media.”
