The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office in a press release Tuesday stated that a Whitewater man was arrested Thursday and charged with possession and delivery of cocaine.
According to the release, the Walworth County Drug Enforcement Task Force, in partnership with the Whitewater Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations conducted an investigation involving the sale of cocaine and fraudulent documents.
The release noted that the fraudulent documents “included both state and federal identification cards.”
The investigation “involved controlled buys conducted by law enforcement,” the release stated.
The release noted that on Thursday, July 13, at 7 a.m., law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at the Whitewater residence of Jose Valentin Ostria-Hernandez.
Inside the residence, officers were reported to have found more than 60 grams of cocaine and more than 20 fraudulent documents, along with “various drug paraphernalia,” and more than $50,000 in cash.
According to the release, five vehicles also were seized as part of the investigation.
The release stated that Ostria-Hernandez, 30, was “subsequently arrested and transported to the Walworth County Jail.”
According to the release, Ostria-Hernandez will face charges including four counts of delivery of cocaine, and at least one count of possession with intent to deliver cocaine in excess of 40 grams. In addition, Ostria-Hernandez will face charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug trafficking residence.
The release notes that charges brought against an individual are “merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.”
Whitewater city officials, responding to the release on the city’s Facebook Page, noted, as of Tuesday afternoon, that they had no further comment.
