Summertime music: Whitewater continues with ‘Savory Sounds’ while Fort’s community band offers full itinerary

By Kim McDarison

Two summertime concert series, one in Whitewater and one in Fort Atkinson, are underway.

In Whitewater, “Savory Sounds,” featuring music and opportunities to purchase lunch, is sponsored by the Whitewater Arts Alliance, and held near the Birge Fountain in front of the Whitewater Cultural Arts Center, according to alliance manager Ashe McDarison. Each concert is paired with an area restaurant which provides food for purchase during the performance on the grounds of the cultural arts center.

In Fort Atkinson, Community Band Director Wayne Crook notes a full itinerary of musical performances, including the return, after a pause during the COVID pandemic, of the “ice cream social,” which provides concert-goers with an opportunity to purchase treats during the performances. Both the concerts and the socials are held in Barrie Park.

Both concert series are free and open to the public.

A schedule of remaining performances within each concert series follows.
