State Road 89 resurfacing project proposed between County Highway A and State Road 11 in 2026 

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has announced that a resurfacing project on State Road 89, between the towns of Richmond and Darien, is under consideration to begin in the summer of 2026.

Information released by the department notes that the work will include a 4.6-mile stretch of State Road 89 between County Highway A and State Road 11.

As stated in the release, “the purpose of the proposed highway improvement project is to address the deteriorating pavement conditions, substandard and noncompliant guardrails, and culvert repairs and replacements.”

Proposed improvements include:

• Removal of 3.5 inches of asphalt and resurface the area with 3.5 to 4 inches of new asphalt.

• Asphalt base patching.

• Performing cross culvert repairs and replacements.

• Replacing guardrails throughout the project area.

• Updating signage and pavement markings throughout the project area.

Potential impacts to traffic during construction are currently under evaluation, the release stated.
