The Walworth County Health and Human Services Department on Wednesday offered for publication an announcement about suicide prevention training to take place today in Whitewater.
According to the release, the training will be held at the Community Engagement Center, 1260 W. Main St., between 3:30 and 5 p.m.
The training, dubbed: QPR, Question, Persuade and Refer, is being held in conjunction with Suicide Prevention Month, recognized in September, according to the release.
The awareness month, and the training, offers an opportunity to “shed light on normalizing conversations about suicide,” the release stated.
The event is free to attend to any individual 16 and older. Registration is required.
Those interested in registering are encouraged to use the following link: https://bit.ly/QPR2024.
As stated in the release, learning the three steps — question, persuade, refer — can help save a life from suicide. The steps help individuals recognize warning signs of a suicide crisis and respond.
A similar training session will be offered Wednesday, Nov. 13, virtually, between 5:30 and 7 p.m. For more information about the virtual training session, contact the Walworth County Health and Human Services Department by phone: 262-741-3200.
Additionally, the release noted, the training can be provided to any organization upon request. Those interested in requesting training are encouraged to complete an inquiry form, found here: https://bit.ly/QPRrequest.
