By Kim McDarison

City of Whitewater Parks and Recreation Director Eric Boettcher has accepted a position with the city of Oconomowoc, according to information shared with WhitewaterWise.

While Boettcher has accepted a position in Oconomowoc, final approval of his appointment is anticipated to take place Tuesday, Aug. 1, during a regularly scheduled Oconomowoc City Council meeting.

In a statement confirming Boettcher’s anticipated departure from his position with the city of Whitewater, Whitewater City Manager John Weidl said: “The city couldn’t be more thrilled for Eric.”

Boettcher has accepted the position of parks and recreations, and forestry director in Oconomowoc, Weidl noted.

“Over the last 6 years plus, Eric has been instrumental in several projects across the city, including the lake dredging project through the recent Effigy Mounds rehabilitation project. Eric also took the lead on forming a partnership with the Friends of the Aquatic Center for our lifeguard incentive program and has worked to operationalize an action plan, a business plan, and a marketing strategy for the WAFC (Whitewater Aquatic and Fitness Center). He will be missed,” Weidl said.
