A man was pronounced dead Saturday after his motorcycle left the road in the town of Palmyra, according to information released Monday by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Within the release, Sheriff Travis Maze noted that deputies responded after receiving a call at 6:42 p.m. to a crash on County Trunk H.

The 911 call received by deputies was placed by a caller at N1669 County Trunk H, which is where the motorcycle was located, the release noted.

As stated in the release, “the male subject,” who also was located near the address, was “face down a short distance from the motorcycle. Preliminary investigation at the scene shows that the motorcycle was traveling southbound on (County Trunk) H and coming out of a curve near Pine Drive when it left the roadway on the west side of the road and struck a culvert.”

The release reported that the driver, who was the lone occupant of the motorcycle, was ejected and landed some 50 feet from where the motorcycle came to rest.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were released about the driver.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Palmyra Fire Department, Western Lakes EMS and the Jefferson County Medical Examiner, the release read.
