Letter to the editor:

“Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.” Those were the words spoken by the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy and her friends caught him bloviating about his great powers. Up until that point they had complete faith in him. How could they have fallen for his tricks and lies? Perhaps it was because he kept telling everyone over and over again that he was the Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz. He recognized something in them that he could exploit and said things they wanted to hear. He convinced them he was their savior.

Donald Trump is today’s wizard. He hides behind a curtain of lies that he constantly repeats. He says things his followers want to hear. When he advocates cruelty they cheer and demand more. When he makes fun of the disabled they laugh. When he calls veterans losers and suckers they applaud. His followers believe everything he says and does is appropriate. There is absolutely nothing he could do or say to stop them from supporting him. Should we waste our time trying to pull back the curtain? That seems fruitless. There is only one solution. Support and vote for Biden and Democrats next fall.
