Laurie Ann Halverson, 59, of Fort Atkinson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
Laurie was born on April 16, 1965, in Fort Atkinson, the daughter of the late Richard Halverson and the late Patricia (Osier) Jenson.
She graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1983. Laurie worked as a cook at Belmont Casino for many years. Most recently, she worked for UW-Whitewater Dining Services and the American Legion Post 166.
Laurie was a caring mother, protective sister, and dedicated aunt. She was a loyal, dependable, and thoughtful friend to many. Her daughter, Kenzie, was the light of her life, and being her mother was one of her proudest accomplishments. Laurie had a deep and unwavering bond with her sister, whom she loved dearly. Their close relationship was a source of constant happiness, and Laurie cherished the countless memories they created together. Laurie was also a passionate supporter of her niece, nephew, and great-nephew, celebrating their successes with pride.
Laurie will be remembered for her amazing cooking and sense of humor. She loved her family and spending time with them was her greatest joy.
In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling, playing pool, and grilling. She was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and enjoyed playing many sports in her younger years. She also loved taking trips to Las Vegas with family and friends.
The world is a less joyful place without Laurie in it.
Laurie is survived by her daughter, Kenzie Leith; stepfather, James Jenson; sister, Korry (Roger) Jahnke; aunts, Sandy (Tim) Hooper, Marlene Jacobson, and Renee (George) Mueller; niece, Sierra Linton; and great-nephew Owen Linton. She also leaves behind many cousins and close friends.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents; uncle, Larry Halverson; aunt, Diane Halverson, and beloved nephew, Austin Linton.
A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church, 31 W. Milwaukee Avenue, Fort Atkinson, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024, with Rev. Dr. Sara Rabe presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. A celebration of life will follow at Bridge, 88 S. Main Street, Fort Atkinson, from 1 – 6 p.m.
