Happy Halloween from WhitewaterWise and Fort Atkinson Online

Editor’s note: WhitewaterWise and Fort Atkinson Online, with help from a poem, titled: “Scaredy Cats,” by Ron “RadioRon” Stelse, wish our readers a happy Halloween.

Scaredy Cats

My eyes, my whiskers,

My tail and nose

The thing about cats

Is that anything goes.

We purr, we hiss

We nap and preen

We play a prominent part

in Halloween.

Ghouls, Ghosts

And Dracula’s bat

What would you do

Without a Halloween cat?

With our blackest of coats

And the greenest of eyes

It’s the chill of October

That makes skeletons rise.

A dog is limited

With it’s pestering bark

But our eyes all glow

In the darkest of dark.

Screams and groans

And a dungeon door squeaks

I promise I’ll be back in fifty-two weeks.

Smartly costumed with warmth in mind, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater college roommates Madigan Hayes, from left, Sage Fjalstad, Emma Gailloreto and Starr Camacho greet guests and distribute candy. Last year’s snowy Halloween was their first as residents of Fremont Street.  File photo/Kim McDarison.
