Greater Whitewater Committee to host UW-Whitewater administration members to discuss ‘engaging and retaining’ students 

The Greater Whitewater Committee (GWC) has announced that it will be hosting two members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater administration during its October monthly meeting to discuss the topic of engaging and retaining college students at the university. 

According to information released by the committee, the speakers are Vice Chancellor from the Division of Student Affairs Artanya Welsey and Director of Counseling Services Veronica Warren.

The GWC’s upcoming monthly meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, at 7 a.m., at 841 Brewhouse, 841 E. Milwaukee St., Whitewater.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Wesley and Dr. Warren update us about students at the University,” GWC Chairman Crystal Singer was quoted as saying in the release.

About Wesley

According to the release, Artanya Wesley serves as the vice chancellor of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She holds a bachelor’s in psychology, a master’s degree in education, and a Ph.D. in educational psychology. Wesley has more than 19 years of experience working within four- and two-year public and private institutions, as well as working with the University of Wisconsin System Administration, which serves 13 universities and 26 campuses.

“Dr. Wesley is an inspirational leader with a strength-based approach to identifying solutions to emerging trends in higher education. She develops relationships, trust, and respect through authentic engagement and partnership with colleagues, faculty, staff, students, as well as external groups. Dr. Wesley is an innovative and collaborative leader with experience and expertise in student development and programming, university strategic planning, business operations and finance, policy development and implementation, change management, and higher education law and compliance,” the release stated.  

About Warren

According to the release, Veronica Warren is the counseling center director at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in public administration from Central Michigan University, and a master’s degree in counseling at Ashland Theological Seminary. She received her Ph.D. in general psychology from Capella University.

“She is an experienced program director and collegiate professional with a proven track record in streamlining and implementing innovative processes and procedures. She has expertise in fostering strong relations with youth and college students as an educator, counselor, and advisor to improve their performance and quality of life. Highly accomplished in communication, organization, compliance, staff management and program development,” the release stated.
