FCCU to host ‘Common Cents’ summer camp for kids; home purchasing seminar offered in Spanish

Fort Community Credit Union, or FCCU, will be hosting two events in July. The first is a children’s-based learning “camp,” titled: “Common Cents,” designed to teach kids how to handle money. 

A  second event, titled: “Viaje de Compra de Vivienda,” or “Home Buying Trip,” focuses on purchasing a home. The information will be presented in Spanish and is tailored to help Spanish-speaking community members with an ITIN or social security number understand the steps involved with purchasing a home. 

‘Common Cents’

According to information released by FCCU, the Common Cents camp will be led by “certified financial coaches,” who will share with participants “the basics of financial knowledge with grade-appropriate lessons, games and activities.” 

The camp will be held Wednesday, July 26, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the credit union’s Home Mortgage Store, 732 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson.

Viaje de Compra de Vivienda’ 

According to the release, “Viaje de Compra de Vivienda” will be led by Yolanda Ramirez, a mortgage loan officer with FCCU. 

Ramirez is a certified financial coach who joined FCCU is 2011. Along with steps towards home ownership for those with an ITIN or social security number, Ramirez will share details about a $20,000 down payment assistance grant which is available to those who qualify. 

The two-hour seminar is free, open to the public, and designed to inform Hispanic community members, the releases stated. Those interested in participating are encouraged to arrive on Saturday, July 29, at 2 p.m., at the Watertown Community Center, 514 S. First St., Watertown.
