Fairhaven to undergo $10 million in renovations, including 47 units, lounge space

Representatives of Fairhaven Senior Services, Whitewater, have announced that the facility will soon undergo a $10 million renovation.

According to information released by the facility’s Director of Marketing, Communications and Leisure Services Brian Robinson, work is anticipated to begin in September and complete in the summer of 2024.

As noted in the release, renovations will include updates, making additional “community-based residential facility (CBRF)” assisted living units in the facility’s “main building,” on its second, third and fourth floors.

Upon project completion, the release stated, the CBRF will have a total of 47 units, along with lounges on each floor.

Units found on the facility’s third and fourth floors, once renovations are completed, will feature a “walk-in kitchenette,” living space and a “fully accessible bathroom with a walk-in shower,” according to the release. There will be 24 such units in all.

Work on the second floor of the main building will renovate 23 units, which, the release noted, will “offer a more intensive level of services and care.”

“Each floor will operate independently, offering the services that we currently have on our fourth floor assisted living,” the release continued.

Paul Kuenning, Fairhaven’s president and CEO said within the release that he believes the renovation will offer the community and surrounding area a level of service and care that is currently needed and will continue to be needed in the future.

Addressing the need for the renovations, he noted that plans “will ensure that Fairhaven may continue its mission as a visible ministry of God’s love for older men and women and to offer a community where ‘life is added to years.’”

The release further noted that Fairhaven has begun communicating its plans to its residents and their family members and loved ones, and will continue to share the progress of its renovation plans through its Facebook page.

Fairhaven is a nonprofit 501c3 organization affiliated with the United Church of Christ, and has been a part of the Whitewater community for over 60 years, the release continued.

The Milwaukee and Madison-based architectural firm of Eppstein Uhen Architects is aiding Fairhaven with its renovation plans. The release identified Dan Schindhelm as the company’s project manager. In addition, Pewaukee-based VJS Construction Services will be undertaking the project with oversight from the company’s Vice President Chris Sauve.
