Covering Trump brings ‘damage (to) the Republican Party’s soul’

Letter to the editor:

Here are my thoughts on what Gov. Tim Walz should have said to Sen. JD Vance about Donald Trump during their vice presidential debate:

In an interview with Jonathan Karl of ABC News, Donald Trump defended his supporters “Hang Mike Pence!” chants.

He calls for “one really violent day” to crack down on shoplifters.

After Democratic Rep. John Dingell of Michigan died, at a rally in the state, Trump suggested that Dingell was looking up from hell.

And at a campaign stop in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Trump joked about killing journalists.

By covering for him, you and other prominent members of the GOP have allowed Donald Trump to damage the Republican Party’s soul.  The word that comes to mind is shame.
