Whitewater City Clerk Karri Anderberg has resigned, according to information released Friday by City Manager John Weidl in response to election-related questions posed by WhitewaterWise.
Anderberg announced her resignation, effective Dec. 28, after her husband “accepted a new position with increased compensation and responsibilities, offering significant advantages to her family,” Weidl wrote in a recent email.
Anderberg was introduced on the city’s Facebook page as its new clerk in July.
In his email, Weidl wrote: “Karri has contributed immensely to the smooth functioning of our city government, working to reorganize the agenda processes, implement technological improvements and provide election training. Her dedication and efforts have left a positive mark on our organization. While we are sad to see Karri go, we understand and respect her decision to put family first and support her husband’s new professional adventure.”
Weidl said that the city has initiated a process to find a qualified replacement for the position of city clerk, additionally noting that he would “appoint an interim clerk in the near future.”
He expressed his confidence in the ability of existing city staff to “ensure a seamless transition during this period of change.”
With the start of the spring election cycle, and potential candidates seeking inclusion on the April ballot able to begin circulating nomination papers today, Weidl noted that those individuals seeking interaction with the city clerk’s office are encouraged to email cityclerk@whitewater-wi.gov. The email reaches multiple staff members, he said.
