Annual Whitewater Arts Alliance Members Show opens

The Whitewater Arts Alliance has announced that its Members Show will be available for viewing through Sunday, Dec. 17.

According to a news release, the show will feature works using a variety of mediums made by alliance members.

The show is held annually in the gallery of the Whitewater Cultural Arts Center, 402 W. Main St., Whitewater.

This year, the show will feature 58 works of art produced by 17 alliance members.

The show is available for viewing during regular gallery hours of operations: Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. The gallery will be closed during the week of Thanksgiving.

In addition, the release notes that an opening reception will be held this Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m. Those attending the reception will find “light refreshments,” the release stated.

The show and reception are free and open to the public.

The show also is available for viewing online through the following link: https://www.whitewaterarts.org/members-show-2023.

According to the alliance’s website, online viewers and in-person attendees may vote for a viewers choice award recipient through use of a ballot. Voters are instructed to select up to four pieces of art and asked to submit only one ballot.

Artists in this year’s show include: Varla Bishop, Michael Havice, Dawn Hunter, Thomas Jewell, Sybil Brauneis Klug, John Koebler, Sylvia Linton, Everett Long, Jeff Mann, Jeff McDonald, John Messley, Mary Nevicosi, Woody Olsen, Suzanne Popke, Roy Schmidt, Terry Tutton and Amy Weh.

“This is a great opportunity to sample the wonderful artwork created by visual artists in our community. The Whitewater area is fortunate to have such an abundance of talent,” Alliance board member and show co-chairperson Jeff McDonald was quoted as saying in the release.

The Whitewater Arts Alliance believes art plays a significant role in transforming the cultural fabric. It brings people together, fosters dialogue and reflection, and creates a sense of pride and ownership,” the release stated.
