All ships rise together: Looking for a way to reach Whitewater?

Not so long ago, in February of 2021, Fort Atkinson Online LLC launched FortAtkinsonOnline.com

The site sought to bring news to the Fort Atkinson-Whitewater extended area, and over the last few years, it grew, receiving on average some 150,000 visitors each month.

More recently, on July 16, we launched WhitewaterWise.com. The launch was a response to some of our Whitewater readers who were asking us for a publication which carried the “Whitewater” name, while continuing to bring the community its news.

Both of our publications, WhitewaterWise.com and FortAtkinsonOnline.com, offer news to our readers for free. Additionally, we offer a free daily newsletter which can be delivered to your email. To sign up for our newsletter, look for the green “Follow us” button at the bottom of any story we’ve published. Click on the button and enter your email address.

As once did more traditional newspapers, we hope to support our publications by supporting our advertising community with online visitor traffic. We offer very affordable advertising packages designed to support and encourage participation from as many advertisers as possible.

We sincerely believe in this mantra: All ships rise together.

Ad packages are sold by the quarter, giving our advertisers a valued presence, and helping us keep administrative costs to a minimum.

Our standard advertising packages within both publications offer a single click-through block at $30 a standard three-month quarter. Blocks occupy at 250 x 250 pixel space. Each block supports one URL (internet address) for the “click-through feature.” It can be a website or Facebook address.

Our doublewide option offers a larger click-through block, 250 x 500 pixels, at a cost of $60 a quarter.

We also provide a prorated block ad for short-term offers, such as special offer sales, entertainment performances, and the like, beginning at $50 a month. The block is prorated such that a three-week period costs $35; a two-week period costs $25. Our smallest charge is $15 for a prorated click-through block for one week.

Fort Atkinson Online LLC has continued to offer the same prices for its ad packages since its inception. We seek to be a good value for our customers.

With our latest launch beginning after the start of the third quarter (July, August, September), we are offering an introductory price to our new WhitewaterWise customers.

Ads purchased for the remainder of this year (July through Dec. 31, which typically would be considered a two-quarter period, with a second quarter running from October to Dec. 31) will come at the introductory one-quarter price of $30 for the single block click-through ad and $60 for the doublewide click-through block.

Each ad is introduced to our readers with a very short introductory story, which has an active “reads” counter. The counter is found at the bottom of each story. Advertisers can track reader engagement by viewing the counter.

Each ad will appear on our cover and on the sidebar of every story we publish. Sidebar or “traveling” ads offer extended value as our stories travel across various social media opportunities.

Advertisers can develop and submit their own block or we can help design a simple block free of charge.

Those with question may contact us by email: kbrook@ix.netcom.com or staff@fortatkinsononline.com.

We at Fort Atkinson Online LLC are very excited to help brand and grow this Whitewater-specific local news service. We hope you will join us, both as a reader and advertiser.

An earlier story about our launch of WhitewaterWise.com is here: http://whitewaterwise.com/welcome-to-whitewaterwise-com/.

To size a block on a Mac computer, click the image you intend to use as your block, then on the menu bar, go to “Tools,” “Adjust size,” and then enter into each box the pixel size you need. An example of the screen which will allow you to set the size of your block is above. The specs above are for a 250 x 250 pixel or single block ad. It is also the size we use for all of our traveling blocks.

The specs above are for a 500 x 250 pixel or doublewide block ad.

More information about ads

Here’s how it works: you can design your own ad and email it to us at kbrook@ix.netcom.com. The block must be 250 x 250 pixels set at a resolution of 72 for a single block ad and 250 x 500 pixels for a doublewide block ad.

Or, we can take a new or use an existing image of you or your business and we can turn that image into your ad.

We also can use camera-ready art of your logo and develop that into a block ad.

All ads (logos or images) placed on WhitewaterWise.com will click through to your website or facebook page, whichever you specify. There is only room for one internet address or “URL.”

Just send us the URL along with your image.

The full ad package

As part of the full advertising package, along with your block ad, which will be placed on our front cover, we will publish a short “welcome” story, along with a “traveling ad,” which appears on the sidebar of every story we publish. Traveling ads are 250 x 250 pixels in size. For those buying a single block ad, no extra steps are required to create your traveling ad. For those using the 250 x 500 pixel size, a second 250 x 250 pixel version of your ad must be created to serve as your traveling ad.

Convenient billing: To pay for your ad, we offer two options: a “Donate button (this is still under construction on the WhitewaterWise site, but is available for use on the FortAtkinsonOnline.com site. To find the button, click any story, and go to the very bottom of the sidebar ads and “most read stories.” The donate button will instruct you to send money using a credit card through PayPal. (If you would like to make a donation, please know that we are not a nonprofit organization; we are a for-profit business. There are no tax breaks associated with using a “donate” button on this site or the Fort Atkinson Online site, and we pay taxes on funds coming through the donate button like any other form of income.)

While the button says “donate,” and you can indeed make a donation, for those making an advertising payment, it will post to us as your advertising payment.

Don’t like online billing? We can also accept a check by regular mail. Email us for details.

Quarterly ads are not prorated, meaning that if you place an ad after the quarter has started, the cost remains the same.

Quarters run as follows: First quarter: January, February March; second quarter: April, May, June; third quarter: July, August, September; and fourth quarter: October, November, December.

Ad payments are due at the time you place the ad.

We will send an email which serves as your invoice.

After placement, continuing ads that have not been paid for after the end of the first month within each quarter will be hidden from the site. Ads will be reinstated at the time of payment.

Questions? Interested in an ad? Email: kbrook@ix.netcom.com or staff@fortatkinsononline.com

Prorated front page ad package

We also offer click-through ads on our front page sidebar. These ads are different from the quarterly ad package. The specs for the front page ads also are 250 x 250 pixels, and come at a cost of $50 per month.

This option appeals to those who need advertising for a limited time. Perhaps you have a job listing needed for two weeks, or an upcoming special event, or a weekend sale. Ads using this program are prorated. Costs are $15 for one week; $25 for two weeks, and $35 for three weeks. Payment is due at the time of ad placement.

All ads placed with this option will receive a “paid advertisement” story, which will appear with our stories on the front page, and will appear on the sidebar of every story we publish.

Contact us about placing an ad so we can say: “Welcome aboard,” and “all ships rise together.”
