Second annual Fort Food Truck Rally to be held Sunday at Dwight Foster Public Library

By Kim McDarison

The second annual Fort Food Truck Rally will be held Sunday at the Dwight Foster Public Library, according to information recently released by event organizers.

According to the release, the event, which will be held between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., will feature some 13 food truck vendors, along with live music.

The Dwight Foster Public Library is located at 209 Merchants Ave., Fort Atkinson.

During the event, Merchants Avenue will be closed to allow room for the food trucks to park.

Dwight Foster Public Library Board of Directors member and event chairman Autumn Harden, responding to a list of questions submitted earlier this summer by WhitewaterWise’s sister publication Fort Atkinson Online, noted by email that this year’s event will additionally feature children’s activities, with a designated “kids area,” located outside of the library.

The event’s live music will be performed by Jason Petitt.

According to information about Petitt supplied online, the artist performs funk, rock, punk and blues, tunes, both originals and covers, with selections from the ‘70s to current pieces.

The event also will include an area where local organizations can share information about projects and fundraisers, Harden noted in her email.

Last year, during the inaugural event, some 700 people participated.

This year, in anticipation of a large crowd, additional seating for food truck diners will be provided by the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 302 Merchants Ave., on the church grounds.

Describing the event, Harden wrote: “The food truck rally is the only event of its kind in Fort Atkinson. We like to think of the event as a laid-back, family-fun event where everyone can find something to enjoy.”

It also is the only Sunday during which the library will be open, she added.

A list of food truck vendors who will be on hand this year, includes: Steve’s Deli Dog House, Inmoxicated, Jakarta Cafe, Kettle Korn by Matty, Yumyum Thai Kitchen, Jmakin Jamaican, The Iron Salamander, Frank’s BBQ, Cafe Costa Rica, Mindoro Island Grill, Po’Manz Food, Kona Ice, and Sammy’s Place.

For more information, organizers suggest a visit to the library’s Facebook page.
