Letter to the editor:

Rep. Bryan Steil is continually promoting initiatives to increase “election integrity.”

If Steil was really concerned about this issue, he would push back against the false narrative about stolen elections relentlessly pushed by former president Donald Trump that has created so much doubt in the eyes of many Americans.

In an interview with Dr. Phil, Trump claimed that if there was an honest vote counter he would win California,  In 2020, he lost the state by more than 5 million votes.  Crickets from Steil and other Republican members of Congress.  

Trump continued to push his election lies in the latest presidential debate.

In August of 2020, Trump spoke at the Oshkosh airport and said that the  only way he could lose the election was if the election was rigged. I lived in Steil’s district at the time, and I repeatedly called his office to warn about the seeds this demagogue was planting, and to urge him to speak out.  All I got from his staff was assurance that the Representative believes in the peaceful transfer of power.

Now look at the mess our nation is in.

We need many more Republicans like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger who are willing to stand up to Donald Trump and who value commitment to country and the Constitution over party and job security.
