Letter to the editor:

As a new resident of  Whitewater, relocating here less than a year ago, I must say how heartening it is to see businesses owned and operated by immigrants, some opening during that year.  A glance at the storefronts proves that the immigrants who came to Whitewater, either decades ago or more recently, came here to make it their home.  They are willing to invest their lives in making this town work for them.  They are willing to make this town prosper not only for themselves but for all of us.  It is equally heartening to share the city with families from other countries, whether it be the fitness center or the weekly city market.  I lived in Los Angeles, and most recently in Philadelphia, and diversity has always felt right to me.  How lucky a small town like Whitewater is to enjoy the benefits of diversity that is typically reserved for larger cities.   I believe we are enriched by these folks who want to be included in our community.
