Happy Labor Day from WhitewaterWise and Fort Atkinson Online

Update: Whitewater city officials announced on their Facebook page Tuesday that ALDI will open Thursday, Sept. 19. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 8:50 a.m.

Editor’s note: WhitewaterWise and Fort Atkinson Online, with help from a poem, titled: “Labor Day,” by Ron “RadioRon” Stelse, wish our readers a happy Labor Day.

Labor Day

The auto repair man

and the firemen across the street

the watchful eyes of the police

when they’re on their daily and nightly beat.

The moms and dads raising their kids

the roadcrew fixing your street

the roof man shingling your house

the furnace expert who brings you heat.

The technician fixing a jet plane

the farmer who plows his field

the little boy picking apples

and a politician who had a bad law repealed.

The cowboy bringing the cattle home

The fishing crew headed for sea

 add up these hard workers

they are in fact working for you and me.

Workers, on Saturday, Aug. 24, prepare a blacktop parking area for patrons of the ALDI store in Whitewater. Information shared on the city of Whitewater’s Facebook page in July notes that the store “is set to open” sometime this fall.
