Evers announces county-by-county breakdown of bridge, surface transportation funds, including $888,000 for work on Howard Road

A county-by-county list of Investments in statewide infrastructure projects was released Monday by the office of Gov. Tony Evers.

According to the release, earlier this month, Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) “announced the next cycle of funding” of $200 million provided through the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, or BIL. In Wisconsin, the funds are earmarked to aid in the improvement of 150 local road and bridge (LB) projects.

Funding is administered by the DOT through the Surface Transportation Program (STP).

Further, the release noted, an additional $177 million in STP funding was announced by the governor last week earmarked for distribution across 76 projects within 16 urban areas statewide.

The county-by-county list, titled: “Updated 2025-2029 Project Awards STP, LB,” provides a breakdown of all of the projects receiving funds through the STP and LB programs, the release noted.

Walworth County

A project in the town of Whitewater, on Howard Road, between Cox and Bluff roads is included on the list. The project is receiving more than $888,000 earmarked for design and construction costs.

A project in the city of Fort Atkinson, on Banker Road, between Campus Drive and Hoard Road, is receiving more than $1.4 million to cover the cost of construction.

According to the list, in Jefferson County, along with the Banker Road project, several projects are receiving funds, including: a bridge in the town of Concord spanning the Oconomowoc River, which is receiving more than $91,000 for design work and more than $657,000 for constriction; a bridge in the town of Sullivan spanning Duck Creek, which is receiving some $99,000 for design work and approximately $541,000 for construction; a bridge in the town of Sumner spanning Koskonong Creek, which is receiving some $110,000 for design work and more than $730,000 for construction; a surface transportation project in Lake Mills between East Lake Street and Jefferson Street, receiving some $689,000 for construction, and a surface transportation project in Lake Mills on East Lake Park Place, between S.
