City launches new website

By Kim McDarison

This morning marked the launch of a new website, according to Whitewater city officials. The new site will be managed by CivicPlus, a Kansas-based firm.

According to its website, the company provides “technology solutions for governments to create more positive civic experiences for residents.” Further information provided by the company is here: https://www.civicplus.com/about-us/.

According to information shared with WhitewaterWise by city officials, the company has been engaged to “build the best website” with the added goal of working with city officials to “develop an attractive, user-friendly website that serves as a valuable tool.”

Information provided by the company to city officials states: “Our goal is to increase digital community engagement within your community. We also strive to see that your new website is receiving the publicity that it needs to keep your residents informed about website changes and upgrades.”

The document further provides city staff and officials with a “Marketing Tool Kit,” which, the company wrote, will “give you a creative guideline of how to begin your promotional documents.”

The toolkit provides 12 links instructing city staff how to use a newspaper ad template, drive bill stuffers, create Facebook updates, approach local papers, invite local media, respond to social media, respond to letters, launch a new website video, and write a press release, among other resources.

While navigating the new website, members of the public with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact Whitewater Neighborhood Services Administrative Assistant Llana Dostie by phone: 262-473-0144 or email: ldostie@whitewater-wi.gov, or Whitewater Chief of Staff Becky Magestro by phone: 262-473-0101 or email: bmagestro@whitewater-wi.gov.
