PSA: City officials ‘urgently’ seek election poll workers

City officials are seeking poll workers to help with the upcoming April election, according to information released Tuesday.

According to the release, the city is urgently seeking “dedicated and civic-minded individuals” to volunteer as poll workers for the upcoming election.

As stated in the release, “with election day drawing near, this is a critical opportunity for our fellow citizens to actively participate in the democratic process and ensure a smooth voting experience for all.”

The general spring election will be held Tuesday, April 2.

The release notes that poll workers play an “essential role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency” of elections.

Duties include overseeing polling sites to help guarantee each eligible citizen’s right to vote.

City staff encourages community members, from those who have never served as a poll worker before to seasoned and returning poll workers, to participate in the process.

“By volunteering as a poll worker, you will gain firsthand experience in democracy at work, fostering a deeper understanding of the electoral process and contributing directly to the success of our elections,” the release read.

The city encourages individuals who speak both Spanish and English to volunteer.

Those interested in volunteering or learning more about serving as a poll worker are asked to contact the city clerk’s office by phone: 262-473-0102.
