45th AAUW book sale offers ‘mystery,’ along with ‘general fiction and nonfiction’ books

The Fort Atkinson branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has announced that its annual book sale will be held this month at the Fort Atkinson Municipal Building, 30 N. Water St. W., Fort Atkinson.

The event will be held in the building’s Parks and Recreation gym, Friday, Sept. 13, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 14, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to information released by the organization.

The sale is in its 45th year.

Visitors to the sale will find a large selection in a variety of gently used books that have been donated for sale.

“This year saw an increase in quality donations over previous years. There was a particular increase in the number of mystery/suspense, general fiction, and non-fiction books. The sale will also feature a large number of children’s books,” the release stated.

According to the release, the purpose of the sale is to raise funds to supplement AAUW’s scholarship funds. Educational accessibility to local women is a cornerstone of AAUW’s mission, and this community-supported book sale has assisted over the years the Fort Atkinson branch of AAUW in supplying over $400,000, as of 2023, in scholarships to local women.
